PA EMS Strike Team

In recent years, the Pennsylvania Department of Health has developed a statewide emergency medical service strike team system. The system, comprised of units from ambulance agencies throughout the state, is designed to deploy personnel, vehicles, and equipment to requests for intrastate and interstate mutual aid during catastrophic and mass casualty disasters. We recently deployed a strike team to Louisiana to provide critically needed emergency support in the wake of Hurricane Gustav. All of our EMS strike team members have specialized training in mass casualty response, weapons of mass destruction, and disaster medicine. We are one of a select few agencies in our region that participate in this program.
